Dr. David C. Rhew, MD | Microsoft

Dr. David C. Rhew is the Global Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Vice President (VP) of Healthcare for Microsoft. He is the Chairman of the Health and Fitness Technology Division for the Consumer Technology Association and serves on CTA’s Board of Industry Leaders. He co-holds six U.S. technology patents that enable authoring, mapping, and integration of clinical decision support into the electronic health record. David is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Rhew received his Bachelors of Science degrees in computer science and cellular molecular biology from the University of Michigan. He received his MD degree from Northwestern University and completed internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He completed fellowships in health services research at Cedars-Sinai and infectious diseases at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He has served as CMO and VP for Samsung; Senior Vice President and CMO at Zynx Health Incorporated; clinician/researcher in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System; and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Rhew has served on the National Quality Forum’s (NQF) Executive Committee for Consensus Standards and Approval.

Dr. Pradeep Ramulu, MD, MHS, PhD | Bascom Palmer Eye Institute

Pradeep Y. Ramulu, M.D., M.H.S., Ph.D., is director of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology, and holder of the Kathleen and Stanley J. Glaser Chair at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. An internationally renowned glaucoma specialist, physician-scientist, educator, and academic leader, Dr. Ramulu is dedicated to advancing patient care, vision research, and medical education.

Having trained as a glaucoma fellow at Bascom Palmer, Dr. Ramulu returns to the institute as chair after nearly two decades of leadership at Johns Hopkins. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Stanford University in 1994 before receiving his M.D. and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology/Genetics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2002. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and in 2009 earned a Master of Health Science degree through the Graduate Training Program in Clinical Investigation at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

Dr. Ramulu joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2007 and advanced through the academic ranks to professor. He served as the Sheila K. West Professor of Ophthalmology, chief of the Glaucoma Division, director of the Wilmer StARR (Stimulating Access to Research in Residency) Program, and professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Through these leadership roles, he's helped shape clinical care, research innovation, and resident education.

His research focuses on understanding how glaucoma affects patients' daily lives and advancing more patient-centered approaches to vision care. He has maintained continuous National Institutes of Health funding since 2007 and has authored more than 280 peer-reviewed publications, 10 book chapters, and two books. An award-winning educator and mentor, he has trained generations of medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty members and has held leadership roles in major national and international glaucoma organizations.
