Scientific Programs Committee

• Plan the Annual Meeting and other scientific sessions

• Manage abstract submission, review, and session programming

• Invite keynote and plenary speakers

• Ensure representation across AI subfields and clinical domains

Education and Training Committee

• Develop and disseminate educational materials, webinars, and courses

• Support mentorship and training programs for clinicians, engineers, and data scientists

• Identify opportunities for curriculum development for medical education

• Foster bidirectional learning between clinical and technical practitioners of AI

Ethics and Policy Committee

• Establish guidance on responsible AI development and deployment in ophthalmology

• Address bias and data governance in ophthalmic AI

• Serve as a liaison for regulatory agencies and other ophthalmology and vision science societies

• Draft policy statements and best practice recommendations

Publications and Communications Committee

• Manage society publications (newsletters, position papers)

• Serve as liaison to AIVO journal

• Oversee digital presence (web/socials) and communications strategy

• Promote/publicize Society initiatives, including the Annual Meeting and grants programs

Membership and Outreach Committee

• Recruit and engage members across all career stages and areas of expertise

• Ensure representation worldwide

• Build partnerships with medical educators, including residency/fellowship directors

• Coordinate outreach with the Education Committee to grow interest in ophthalmic AI among students and trainees

Research and Grants Committee

• Support the development and coordination of collaborative research initiatives

• Identify and publicize relevant grant opportunities to members

• Develop internal grant programs (starting with pilot grants and travel awards, building toward larger, industry-sponsored grants)

• Review grant applications and award funding for grant programs once developed
